Marine and Coastal Survey

Survey underpins informed decision making in environmental management. Whether undertaking a baseline study for impact assessment, resource mapping for planning purposes or managing marine protected areas, high quality information on the surrounding environment is essential.

Fugro ERT has over 35 years experience of providing marine and coastal survey and monitoring to both the private and public sectors. Through our experienced personnel we are able to offer a broad range of survey services that include scoping, planning and managing of ecological studies across a range of environments, from shoreline mapping to deep sea benthic monitoring. Our skilled in-house survey team is supported by comprehensively equipped biology and chemistry laboratories.

We offer:

  • Remote survey: drop-down camera, grab (with video) and geophysical seabed mapping
  • Data management: analysis, GIS, database and data storage

Working Closely with our Clients

Fugro ERT works closely with clients to develop survey strategies that are cost-effective, and are able to draw upon a range of published and tailored methods to meet survey aims and objectives. Data obtained are analysed and presented in concise reports, incorporating a range of graphics and map based products for clarity.

In addition Fugro ERT are able to offer interpretation of survey results, building on our extensive marine ecological experience. We can add considerable value to data by highlighting likely sensitivities of habitats and species, add contextual information from UK and international libraries and incorporate findings into environmental impact assessments (EIAs).

We have undertaken projects throughout the coastal and offshore marine environment of the UK, as well as internationally in West Africa, Malaysia and Peru. Our clients have included a wide range of energy and civil engineering companies and also public bodies such as statutory nature conservation organisations.
