Fugro ERT's core laboratory services cover the analysis of several environmentally significant physical and chemical properties of sediment, soil, tissue and various water matrix samples.
We often
collect samples ourselves as part of a
site survey but also routinely handle samples collected by our clients or their third party agents. Our laboratory is UKAS accredited.
Analytical Services
The analytical laboratory is staffed by highly skilled and experienced personnel who maintain our widely respected reputation for detailed hydrocarbon analyses in complex environmental matrices (sediment, soil, sludge, tissue and water).
Using a variety of automated instrumental techniques including ASE, FTIR, GC (FID and ECD), and GC-MS the laboratory can provide testing for a large range of organic pollutants. In addition to our in-house testing we have long standing relationships with several major laboratories which allows us to offer an even greater range of services through a strictly monitored subcontracting process.
Oil Spill Forensic Services
At Fugro ERT we have established ourselves as one of the market leaders in oil spill fingerprinting, offering specialist support to the MCA, ITOPF, IOPCF, local authorities and major oil companies. We have also represented UK administrative interests at several international workshops on the development of oil identification procedures.
Our spill versus source sample assessments are carried out using the widely accepted practice of normalised diagnostic ratios and the statistical evaluation of critical differences.
